Cerne (he/him) is currently in his eighth season as Producing Artistic Director of Theatre Workshop of Nantucket (TWN). During his time with TWN, he has directed 18 mainstage productions as well as curated, collaborated and produced more than 40 theatrical events. Highlights at TWN include: Love and Information (featuring 12 directors and 109 actors form across the country) Mamma Mia!, Steel Magnolias, California Suite, Into the Woods and The Odd Couple (Female Version). Cerne’s choreographic work can be seen on the big screen in Damsel’s in Distress (Sony Classic Pictures) starring Oscar Nominee Greta Gerwig and produced, written and directed by Oscar Nominee Whit Stillman. Prior to his tenure at TWN, Cerne directed and choreographed across the country and has worked with the incomparable Meryl Streep, as well as some of Broadway’s best including Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley, Liz Callaway, Heidi Blickenstaff, and Analeigh Ashford. Justin recently collaborated with the Nantucket Historical Association on the Spirit Within Us experience, focusing on Nantucket’s historic role in The Road from Abolition to Suffrage exhibition at the Whaling Museum. Cerne is also a playwright (Truth or Consequences, March of the Isabelline Penguins and Polar) and holds BA from Marymount Manhattan College and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from The University of Idaho. Justin serves on the Nantucket Cultural Council and is a proud member of Actors Equity Association (AEA), Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SDC) and SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild).
