Terms of Endearment

Terms of Endearment image

Challenges in life and love test the resilience of a mother-daughter relationship in Dan Gordon’s adaptation of Terms of Endearment, based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Larry McMurtry and James L. Brooks’ screenplay of the Oscar-winning film. Described as a heartfelt comedy-drama, Terms of Endearment explores the tumultuous relationship between Aurora, a devoted but opinionated mother, and her often pregnant and always headstrong daughter, Emma.

As Aurora struggles to impose order on her wayward daughter’s chaotic life, she finds her own taking an unexpectedly thrilling turn when she falls deeply in love for the first time in her life – with retired astronaut Garrett Breedlove. But Garrett it seems is as big a cad as her daughter’s husband, and only when tragedy strikes the family is he revealed as a man with a heart of gold. This funny and touching story captures the delicate, sometimes fractured bonds between mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, and lovers, both old and new.

“…this production reminds us that, even if we know how it ends, a good story will still be good whether on stage or screen. And if you have never seen the film you are in for a treat.” – Exeunt Magazine
